Google has confirmed their local search algorithm – Google Pigeon, rolled out a week ago.  The first pigeon update was rolled out in the US on July 24, 2014 and now expanded over globally in English queries (United Kingdom, Canada and Australia) since last week.

This pigeon update has officially rolled out worldwide in all English locales with the exception of India.  Google pigeon update aim to provide more useful, relevant and accurate local search results. This is boon for Local Businesses to promote their business locally.
